P&C

Dear parents, caregivers and students,

As a parents and citizens association, we are made up of parents and or citizens from the school and wider community. Our annual general meeting is held in February of each year at which executive officers are elected to represent the wider parent body. Everyone is most welcome to attend this meeting.

During the course of the year the P&C contributes directly to the teaching and learning of each child at St Bernard State School in the following ways:

  • Each year we contribute around $13,000.00 to the school for use in literacy, numeracy and sustainability as well as other resources required for improving education.
  • The money for the above contribution is raised mostly through our fundraising activities. This will be: school discos, Mother’s Day stall, Father’s Day stall, fireman’s games, Easter raffle, trivia night amongst others that may arise during the course of the year.
  • We are responsible for the running of the tuckshop and uniform shop. Some of the monies from these ventures will be used to compliment our fundraising money.
  • Bursary’s and other monies are be-quested to individuals within the school community who attain a high level in sporting endeavours.
  • The P&C contribute to the graduating year 6 class each year.
  • Other projects that the P&C supports would be the Love Your School Day, school excursions, inter school sport and many more.
  • At times teachers may come to the P&C to request money for various teaching and learning resources. These are looked at on a case by case basis.

So as you can see, the P&C is much more than just a group of parents that meet every now and then. They are a committed and focused group of individuals whose common goal is to better the 'whole' school experience for each and every student at the school.

The P&C committee meets on the third Wednesday of every month, usually at 6pm. I encourage all parents to attend at least one meeting and be involved in just one event each year. This is a way that you can directly improve the teaching and learning of your own child.

I sincerely hope that you and your child/children have a truly memorable school experience at St Bernard State School. I look forward to seeing you all in the near future.

Thanks in advance for your continued support.

Warm regards,

P&C President.
