Welcome to St Bernard State School. Located in the Tamborine National Park at the southern tip of Mount Tamborine, we are part of the Scenic Rim and a 30-minute drive from the Gold Coast. St Bernard SS has a long, proud history, with the original building being built in the 1800s.
St Bernard SS is a small school with a big heart. With an enrolment size of approximately 120 students, we know and see every student. The school is guided by the shared vision that every child can learn, and every child can achieve. Staff consistently affirm that this belief underpins a strong sense of collective responsibility and a united approach to improving outcomes for all students. Parents and staff celebrate the caring, small-school culture, where nurturing relationships ensure every child feels known, valued and ready to learn. A strong sense of collegiality and mutual support is evident among staff, with teamwork fostering a positive, cohesive professional learning environment that benefits both teaching practice and student success. School leaders and community members proudly highlight the deeply embedded partnerships and strong community connections that enrich learning experiences and enhance student engagement, wellbeing and achievement across the school.
St Bernard SS school expectations of: I am Safe, I am Respectful, I am Responsible, and I am a Learner are explicitly taught and reinforced across the school. This is further strengthened by our work around the Zones of Regulation, enabling students to understand their emotions and how to ensure that they are in the ‘right zone’ to optimise their learning. Our unique access to the natural environment, on our large, beautiful campus, is something that we embrace. Our students are able to foster the incredibly important ‘soft’ skills of: problem solving, resilience and persistence, by playing safely in our bush setting.
